My Testimonal
There are some of us who believe God does not speak to man audibly anymore. However, I beg to differ by personal experience. This dichotomy can only come from those who has not had a true encounter with the Almighty God. It is not a figment of one’s imagination or religious fanaticism. Truly God does speak to man today just as He did in olden Bible days. Maybe some of us are like Samuel at the age of three (3) heard God’s voice but did not recognize it. Such was a similar experience Gideon had when God spoke to him. He wanted to be sure the voice he heard was God speaking. So, he asked for a sign which God granted.
We can only know and recognize the voice of God through our personal relationship with Him that we can discern His voice. It is my belief that to hear God’s voice you must first belong to Him and have spent some time with Him in some form. Whether by prayer, meditation, reading the Bible, dreams, thoughts and visions, sermons, contemplation, to name a few, but there must be communication between you and God. Otherwise, there is no relationship with Him. St. John 10:27 refutes the dichotomy that God does not speak to man audibly today. It states: “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man.”
I contend by experience, that God is yet speaking audibly to man today. Are we listening? Are we discerning? Are we waiting patiently for the answer?
Scriptures to consider helping you to hear and recognize God’s voice: Proverbs 18:13, Psalms 37:7, Job 33:15, St. John 10:27, Romans 10:17.
